Are you wondering why your horse is behaving in a certain way? Why your dog is more reactive in certain situations than others? When the right time is to let your beloved cat go?

Before you hire an animal communicator or pet psychic to help you, here are a few things to think about.

The hiring of animal communicators to help us with our relationship with our beloved animals has become a widespread phenomenon.

Great news!

Animals are getting their voices heard, thanks to a growing number of people developing their animal communication skills.

The blossoming of animal communication as an accepted part of our lives is to be welcomed.

Human guardians are finding ways of discovering their animal’s preferences: their likes and loves.

Animal communication is opening the door to a wider acceptance that all animals are non-human persons.

Nothing could be more wonderful.

However, not all animal communication consultations are equal. Here’s why:

Your animal communicator may have only just begun.

The animal communicator that you are thinking of hiring may have only just begun her journey into the amazing world of animal communication.

Of course, everyone has to start somewhere. There is only one way of honing this amazing skill and that is through practice – and lots of it!

But here is an interesting phenonemon:

Animal communication is easy at the beginning.

One of the lovely things about acquiring the  skill of communicating with animals is that there is often success right at the beginning of the journey.

Animal communication is kind to a beginner’s mind and we all have the ability to learn how to communicate with animals telepathically.

Success at the beginning is great. It keeps us motivated to keep going.

However, this phenonemon all too commonly leads people to believe that they ‘have a natural gift’ for animal communication after attending one or two workshops.

Before long, they have set up as a professional animal communicator without having developed those skills rigorously enough.

This is incredibly sad for animals.

Animals need animal communicators who are the best they can be.

Supporting someone as they develop their art is a wonderful gift to offer a fledgling animal communicator. After all, your animal communicator has to start somewhere.

However, it’s best to know if this is the case and not be deceived by someone’s marketing. So… no matter how fancy and incredible someone’s marketing is, if they set up after a very short workshop or training, then they may not be the animal communicator you need them to be.

There are many pitfalls in developing the art of animal communication and the chances are that they will stumble upon one of these along the way.

This is all part of the learning of their art.

However, if you spend your last pennies or invest a lot of hope in someone who may be at the beginning of their journey, then you run the risk of disappointment. Worse, you may end up confused at the end of your consultation.

It takes an average of 18 mths – 3 years to develop animal communication or mediumship properly.

Animal communication, along with mediumship, takes time to develop. No matter how sensitive your animal communicator is at the beginning of her learning, it takes on average 18 months to 3 years to fully develop as a medium or animal communicator. And that is if she has managed to find a good, experienced teacher.

In short, your animal communicator may not have developed her skill as rigorously as another.

Your animal communicator will need to have practised regularly with people and animals who she does not know OVER A LONG PERIOD to become accurate.

Tell-tale signs your animal communicator may not be the person you are hoping she is going to be.

Asking lots of questions BEFORE a consultation.

If your animal communicator asks you for a list of questions beyond basic details about your animal such as name, age, gender (this can be fluid, people!) and how long you have been together, BEFORE or AT THE BEGINNING of your consultation then you may be up against someone who is not as confident as you would like them to be.

Not providing you with enough personal evidence.

An animal communicator’s job is to provide you with evidence that she is truly talking to your animal. This evidence is never ‘proof’ in the scientific sense but should be enough to give you personal evidence that she is truly talking to YOUR animal.

Once she is assured through the evidence that she provides you that she has a link with your animal, then she can go on to give you messages from your animal about their likes, dislikes, preferences, requests, etc. Proving to herself and to you that she has a link is all!

The consultation is vague and woolly.

Does your animal communicator know the difference between intuition and telepathy?

It is possible to pick up information energetically or intuitively from an animal without receiving true ‘thought conversation’ or telepathy. Much as you sometimes can ‘sense’ how someone is feeling without asking them how they are.

Knowing the difference is of vital importance and will make the difference between an accurate consultation and one which is wooly or vague.

It can be hard for you as the client to tell the difference too but if your animal communicator concentrates a lot on the character of the animal, their emotions or physical sensations, then she may be ‘sensing’ or ‘intuiting’ what the animal is feeling rather than asking the animal directly.

In some (but not all cases), the use of the words ‘intuitive communication’ on websites can also be a clue to their working energetically rather than telepathically.

If your animal communicator is saying much the same thing over and over again but in different ways, then the chances are she is ‘sensing’ rather than ‘conversing’.

Be kind to her! Animal communication is not easy and your animal communicator may not be aware of the difference herself.

However, if the consultation leaves you with a dissatisfied feeling, then she may have just ‘vibed’ your animal and not received the thoughts of your animal telepathically.

Consultations full of thought conversation, tend to be ‘rapid-fire’, accurate, full of lots of visual imagery received from the animal (clairvoyance) plus ‘thought intention’ (clairaudience) as well as sensations and emotions.

Thought is usually fast though this depends on the animal. It has a subtle but qualitative difference.

Consultations done through telepathy often will make you laugh, gasp or cry as the animals reveal little snippets of your lives together.

Your former amazing animal communicator has just ‘gone off the boil’.

Many of us will have had the experience of going to see a medium, psychic or animal communicator who once gave us an incredible consultation only to be disappointed second time around.

There can be a few reasons for this.

Your animal communicator may be tired. They may have been over-working and under-playing. They may have had some difficult issues in their lives to face or difficult emotions to process.

All of these things can impact an otherwise accurate animal communicator.

On the other hand, they may have been doing too many consultations. All mediums and animal communicators need time to recharge their psychic batteries.

It is as if we have a certain amount of psychic energy for others and when that is used up, it’s used up.

Proper self-care and self-awareness are vital in maintaining the ability to communicate with animals.

Your previously wonderful animal communicator may be back on form soon.

It’s important to be kind.

The final and possibly most important thing to say is that professional animal communicators is that they should be kind.

If your animal communicator is not treating you with loving kindness, then please do find someone else.

At no point during a consultation, should you be feeling shamed by choices you made in relation to your animal.

All human clients have the right to be treated with loving kindness when it comes to their animals. After all, you would not have sought an appointment with an animal communicator if you did not care about your animal.

Animal communication requires humility.

Sometimes an over-zealous animal communicator is determined that they are ‘right’ even when they ‘heard something’ which makes no sense to you. If they make you feel ‘wrong’ so that they can be ‘right’ then you need to keep walking!

Animal communicators worth their salt are sufficiently self-aware not to need to force this information onto you. They know that wires can be crossed and that not everything they say is 100% accurate.

Animal communication is an art, not a science.

So, if you find an animal communicator who is using telepathic information to prove their ‘rightness’ then please keep walking. Treating animals AND humans with loving kindness and non-violence is key here.

Sometimes animal communicators have such strong opinions about animal welfare that they can no longer hear the subtleties of communication. Ask for respect, no matter how strongly they feel about animals.

Animal guardians are all doing their best and know their animals best. Trust your own knowing and never pass your authority to an animal communicator, no matter how amazing, how accurate and how devoted to animals they are.
